I've read it to my wife and kids twice, neice, and nephew (ages ranging from 2.5 - 38). It's understandable and suitable for kids and adults. I have also read the original Pilgrim's Progress, and only notice one scene that was excluded from this book (the man who committed apostasy, shown to Christian at the Interpreter's house). The story is beautiful, powerful, and true to the original in this book. I have also read a half-baked "modern English" version that was pretty lousy. Helen Taylor did an outstanding job re-telling the story in this book. This is the ONLY book that I read again, and again. If you enjoy reading archaic, several hundred year-old English literature, get the original. If you want to read and live the story get this book. I must have misunderstood the description, but I was expecting a modern English version of the original NOT this. Although preserving the moral and values, this is written with children as the main characters and she creates her own terms to summarize events and places loosing the charm of the original.
